Roberto Hilbert in German National Team
German National coach Joachim Loew has called up a squad of 20 players for the EC-qualifier against the Czech Republic on March 24 (8.45 pm CET) in Prague on Friday. Our client Roberto Hilbert of VfB Stuttgart is among three new faces in the selection alongside Stefan Kiessling and Gonzalo Castro (both Bayer Leverkusen). Right winger Hilbert featured in 12 Under 21 matches for Germany (3 goals)and is hopeful to celebrate his debut in the senior national team either in the qualifier against the Czechs or the following friendly match against Denmark (28th of March) in Duisburg.
Westermann set for Schalke
Bundesliga leaders Schalke have agreed personal terms with our client and Arminia Bielefeld defender Heiko Westermann. The 23-year-old stopper looks certain to leave the Schuco Arena at the end of the season and Schalke general manager Andreas Muller says he wants to join the Royal Blues. "He has decided to continue his career with us," he confirmed on Thursday after agreeing a four-year deal with the player. "All we have to do now is agree terms with Bielefeld." Westermann is contracted at Arminia until June 2008 and is expected to command a fee of around €2million (£1.35million) for a summer move.
