German Under 21 international Roberto Hilbert (Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth) has been voted "Player Of The Week" in Germany's 2nd Bundesliga after a top performance in his club 6:2 defeat of Wacker Burghausen. Right winger Hilbert (21) scored two and assisted another two goals and showed again why so many German top clubs are in a chase of his services.
Arminia Bielefeld's powerful defender Heiko Westermann has been nominated in the "Best Eleven Of The Week" by journalists of Germany's most important football magazine "Kicker". The former Under 21 international plays a key role in Bielefeld's defence since joining the club on a 800.000 ? transfer from second division club Greuther Fürth earlier this summer. Central defender Westermann (22 years) scored his first goal in German Bundesliga this week in his clubs 3:0 victory over Hertha Berlin.
World Cup hosts Germany beat China 1-0 thanks to a Torsten Frings penalty early in the second half of Wednesday's friendly international in Hamburg. Frings converted from the spot on 51 minutes after Shenzhen Jianlibao defender Li Weifeng brought down Bernd Schneider in the box. In an uninspiring match China had two good chances to score in the first half as Shenhua pair Xie Hui and Sun Xiang failed to convert after excellent passes from Shandong Luneng midfielder Zheng Zhi.
