German U 21 defeats Holland 4:1

Jürgen Kohler celebrated his first home match as coach of the German U 21 with a smashing 4:1 defeat of Holland. Kevin Kuranyi of VfB Stuttgart scored the first goal after 12 minutes. 3000 spectators at Aachen's Tivoli stadium saw Kuranyi scoring again just 4 minutes later. A volley shoot of Guiseppe Gemiti, a midfielder of Udinese Calcio gave Germany a 3:0 lead after 39 minutes, but Arjen Robben of PSV Eindhoven was able to score for the Dutch just one minute later. Dogan celebrates his debut vs ManU

Bayer Leverkusen's Hüzeyfe Dogan (21) had his first ever Champions League appearance yesterday night. The holy ground of "Old Trafford" was the place of his debut as he came in as substitution for the German international Daniel Bierofka. Dogan wasn't able to change the 0:2 defeat vs Manchester United into a victory, but happy to celebrate his first Champions League match on such a high level. Congratulations!

Meichelbeck and Schlicke will play for Germany

Martin Meichelbeck of VfL Bochum has been nominated for the newly founded German B national side while Björn Schlicke of Greuther Fürth will be a member of the U-21 squad that will face Lithuania in a European qualifier this weekend. Meichelbeck has the honour to perform in the first ever match of the so called "Team 2006" vs Turkey on Friday. The "Team 2006" was founded to bring talented youngsters closer to the national team with the aim to build a strong capacity for the World Cup 2006.

Pascal Ojigwe back in action

Bayer Leverkusen won yesterdays Champions League tie vs the Israeli Champions of Maccabi Haifa with 2:0. Among the best players on the pitch was again Pascal Ojigwe. The Nigerian international suffered a bad season in 2001/2002 after Rudi Völler quitted to be Leverkusen manager. Ojigwe failed to earn the confidence of new managers Vogts and Toppmöller and performed in just 3 League matches. The team's poor performance so far this season forced manager Toppmöller to field the young Nigerian vs Manchester Uni...

Schlicke earns U-21 nomination

Björn Schlicke of 2nd Bundesliga club Greuther Fürth is invited to take part in a training camp of the German U-21 squad. The camp will take place in Hennef from August 6-8. The tall defensive allrounder seems to be a key member of the newly formated squad of new coach Jürgen Kohler.

Francis Kioyo signs for Cologne

The Cameroonian international Francis Kioyo, one of the shooting stars of Germany's last second divison campaign, has finally signed for Cologne. FP Sport Promotion finalised a one year loan deal for the 192cm tall striker before moving to Munich 1860 in 2003/2004.

Nkufo on a EUR 1.4 million transfer to Hannover

FP Sport Promotion has completed the transfer of striker Blaise Nkufo from German 2nd Division club Mainz to newly promoted Hannover 96. After two weeks of difficult negotiations, Mainz 05 agreed to accept a transfer amount of 1.4 Million Euro for the Swiss international who scored 14 goals for Mainz last season. German U-20 Goalkeeper joins Greuther Fürth

Stephan Loboue, the goalkeeper of the German U-20 National Team has joined German 2nd Division outfit Greuther Fürth on a free transfer from 1st Division side VfL Wolfsburg. The gifted 1.92m tall goalie will show his talent in Fürth for the next two seasons.
